At
a night, Edo is having some drink on a cruise near the port
of Duel Academia island. He wonders what Saiou is doing now.
He reminds himself of Manjyome's words (episode
67) that the school would soon belong to Saiou.
Then, Edo sees another cruise landing at the port. A mysterious
guy with a black suit steps down from the cruise. Edo can
recognize the guy by his first sight. The guy walks pass
and stops by a beautiful moonlight flower. He seems to appreciate
it, but steps on and destroy it. He hopes to give it more
scare as smirking.
At the white hall, Saiou is looking through
the future by his Tarot, still wondering about Judai's continuous
victory. He draws a card and get [The
Death] in an upright position. Saiou challenges
Judai to prove if Judai thinks that he can get over this
destiny (The Death represents a new challenger for Judai).
On the other side at Obelisk Blue (White), Vice Principal
Napolean seems impatient, urging Manjyome to draw the conclusion
with Judai. That's the only way to have this white dorm
approved officially. Manjyome suggests Vice Principal Napolean
be silent. Saiou already called someone for this job, and
he has already come to this island to duel against Judai.
Vice Principal Napolean asks who that guy is.
On
the other side, Judai is walking with the map while Sho
and Kenzan are after him. They are coming because Manjyome
called him out. They have arrived an entrance of a cave,
moving inside. There appears the face of the mysterious
man welcoming them for coming. Judai asks him whether he
has seen a weird guy with a white uniform (He means Manjyome).
The mysterious man replies that the guy whom Judai is look
for isn't coming here. He lets this mysterious man come
instead. Kenzan asks ask who the man is. The man introduces
himself a pro duelist named [X].
Then, he invites Judai into a duel against him since he
is the one who could beat Edo Phoenix. At first, Judai wondered
why he has to duel against him, but he later thinks that
he has become popular. Sho asks whether X knows Edo. X says
that Edo is a young duelist, so his ranking is actually
higher. Hearing that his ranking is higher, Judai assumes
that X is stronger than Edo. He certainly becomes excited
by such a great opportunity. Meanwhile, Edo is watching
them behind, wondering whether Judai seriously intends to
approach into the duel against X. X asks Judai for his answer.
Judai thinks that this game should be fun, so he absolutely
accepts the challenge. Standing by their duel disks, they
start the duel quickly.
First turn comes to X. Drawing a card, he
plays [Card Destruction ~ Tebuda Massatsu
- Magic: Both players must discard their entire hands and
draw the same number of cards they discarded from their
respective decks]. By its effect, both sides have
to discard all cards on their hands into the graveyards
and draw the same number of the discarded cards. Thus, both
discard 5 cards and draw new 5 cards. Then, X activates
a trap card from the graveyard, [Luring
Lantern LV 4 ~ Yuugatou Level Yon - Trap: When this card
is sent to the Cemetery by an effect, you can Special Summon
1 Monster from your deck with a level of 4 or less].
Due to its effect, he can special summon a monster, [Trap
Sleuther - 4/800/1300: If this card is on the Field in face-up
attack mode, this card's controller is not affected by the
effects of Trap cards], onto the field in an attack
position. Setting two face-down cards, he ends his turn.

Although X is stronger than Edo, Sho hopes that Judai will
win. Then, Edo appears and says that it shouldn't be that
easy. From the record, X has never been defeated in a duel.
There is nobody who can duel against him in the world of
pro duelists. The duelists who duel against him lose not
only the game, but also their entire passion and pride.
Sho is getting amazed by what Edo means.
It's now Judai's turn. He draws a card and summons [E-Hero
Sparkman - 4/1600/1400] in an attack position. At
this moment, X opens a reversed permanent trap card [Monster
Register - Permanent Trap: Pay 1000 Life Points to activate
this card. When either player Summons or Special Summons
a Monster, they send cards from the top of their deck to
the Cemetery equal to that Monster's level]. He has
to pay 1000 LP to play this card, so his LP decreases to
3000 (4000-1000). According to its effect, Judai has to
discard cards on the top of his deck equal to the levels
of his summoned monster. E-Hero Sparkman has level 4, so
Judai has to discard 4 cards from his deck. It appears that
Monster Register takes Judai's 4 cards, including N-Aqua
Dolphin, away from his top deck. While Kenzan thinks that
both sides have to get this effect against their decks,
Edo tells him to take a look at X's field carefully. X has
Trap Sleuther on his field. By its special effect, X is protected
from any effect of trap cards. Thus, the potential trap
effect of Monster Register affects only Judai. If he summons
greater more monsters, he has to discard more cards from
his deck. Edo notes that it is X's style [Deck
Destruction ~ Deck Hakai]. X doesn't aim to LP but
cards in a deck. He is such a threatening (worst) duelist
for Judai who has strong bond with his deck. Kenzan believes
that Judai should be fine anyway. Edo notes that although
he knew the opponent's style before, he wouldn't probably
win. X just enjoys destroying people's decks, and Judai
has already fallen into his trap.
Note:
Deck Destruction Combo
This is the main strategy of X's Deck Destruction
style.
- He plays the permanent trap, Monster Register,
to force the opponent discard more cards into the
cemetery once he summons a monster.
- He protects himself from this effect by the special
effect of Trap Sleuther.
- What X has to do next is to find the way to keep
Trap Sleuther on the field, and to let the opponent
summon more monsters.
- The point is to wait until the cards in the opponent's
deck become 0. When the opponent has no card to
draw, he is defeated automatically. It doesn't involve
LP.

Threatening
Roar
Trap Card |
Seeing Judai look amazed, X asks whether Judai has already
accepted the defeat. Judai smirks and still enjoys this
type of duel as usual. X thinks that Judai hasn't realized
the situation well yet. Judai thinks that if that's the
case, he should find the way to destroy Trap Sleuther so that
X can also take the effect of Monster Register. Judai is
now ready to declare the attack of E-Hero Sparkman against
Trap Sleuther. However, X claims that he won't let Judai do
that easily as opening another reversed trap card [Threatening
Roar ~ Ikaku Suru Houkou - Trap: Your opponent cannot declare
an attack during this turn]. Judai feels pity by
losing his chance in this turn, so he finishs his turn at
this point.

Turn moves to Judai. He draws a card and fuses
E-Hero Featherman and E-Hero Burst Lady on his hand into
[E-Hero Flame Wingman - 6/2100/1200:
This monster can be summoned only by fusion. When this Monster
destroys a Monster as a result of Battle, do direct damage
to your opponent equal to the attack points of the destroyed
monster]. When his monster is summoned, the effect
of Monster Register is activated. E-Hero Flame Wingman has
6 stars, so 6 more cards are taken from Judai's deck. This
time, Judai loses E-Hero Neos among those taken cards. X
smirks and asks whether Judai hears the cry of his cards.
Judai hopes that he will win for E-Hero Neos as well, declaring
the attack of E-Hero Flame Wingman against X's face-down
monster, [Level Pod - ?/500/? - Flip:
Return all Monsters on the Field to their owner's deck and
shuffle. Equal to the levels of the Monsters shuffled in
their own decks, each player draws cards from the deck equal
to that number. If you draw a card that was shuffled into
your deck, add those cards into your hand. If you don't,
send those cards into the Cemetery]. By E-Hero Flame
Wingman's effect, when it can destroy a monster, the direct
damages equal to the destroyed monster deal to X. Thus,
his LP reduces to 2500 (3000-500).
At this moment, X declares the flip effect
of Level Pod. By its effect, all monsters of both sides
are returned to their decks. Thus, E-Hero Flame Wingman
and E-Hero Sparkman return to Judai's deck while Trap Sleuther
returns to X's deck. Kenzan realizes that Trap Sleuther has
disappeared (Thus, X should be able to get the effect from
his own trap card, Monster Register from now on). Furthermore,
both sides have to shuffle their decks and draw cards equal
to the combined levels of the returned monsters. Sho notes
that Judai has to draw 10 cards (4 + 6: Sparkman's level
+ Flame Wingman's level) while Kenzan notes that X has to
draw 4 cards (Trap Sleuther has 4 stars). Lastly, if X and
Judai get at least one same monster as one previously returned
to their decks, they can keep all of those drawn cards onto
their hands. Otherwise, they have to throw all of them into
the cemeteries. Judai looks at his 10 drawn cards and sees
E-Hero Sparkman, so he can keep all of the drawn cards on
his hand. Nevertheless, X doesn't get Trap Sleuther in his
4 drawn cards, so he has to discard all of them into the
cemetery. Judai feels that he doesn't lose anything that
much. Although he lost 10 cards from his deck as a result
of Level Pod's flip effect, he can gain 10 cards back on
hand.
|
The Perforated
Purse
Trap Card |
Certainly, X doesn't allow Judai to supply
those cards. He opens his reversed trap card [The
Perforated Purse ~ Anaaki Saifu - Trap: You can activate
this card when your opponent's hand contains 6 or more cards.
Randomly discard cards from his hand until he hold 5 cards
in his hand], which can activate only if Judai has
more 6 cards on his hand. Judai currently has 13 cards on
his hand (5+1-3+10: please look at his card on hand on digest4),
so the condition is satisfied. Due to the effect of The
Perforated Purse, Judai will lose his cards on hand to the
graveyard until he remains only 5 cards. Thus, 8 cards (13-5)
are sent to his graveyard. At this time, Winged Kuriboh
is taken away from him. Anyway, Judai feels relieved that
Trap Sleuther has already gone. X hasn't done yet. He opens
his last reversed trap [Soul Link
~ Tamashii No Tsunagari - Trap: Select 1 Monster card from
your deck and add it to your hand]. This card allows
X to add a monster from his deck onto his hand. Absolutely,
he decides to get back Trap Sleuther. Judai can do nothing
else, ending this turn here.

In this turn, X mentions that Judai has already lost 26
cards into his graveyard (See
Digest 4 how Judai ends up with 26 cards in his cemetery),
wondering how many times have left for him. Judai gets mad
and declares that his Neos deck isn't easy to be broken
down like that. X smirks as thinking that Judai still can't
do anything at all. Once this duel is ended, Judai's belief
in his deck will collapse completely and it will no longer
return to his hand. X then declares his turn. He draws a
card and plays Pot of Greed to draw additional two cards.
He later normal resummons Trap Sleuther onto the field in
an attack position. Repeatedly, due to the effect of Monster
Register, 4 cards (4 levels of Trap Sleuther) are taken away
from X's deck into his cemetery. However, as long as Trap
Sleuther remains on the field, he no longer gets any effect
from Monster Register. Setting up all three cards on his
hand onto the field, X ends his turn. X feels very certain
about his victory. It's time to count down for Judai's defeat
since he has ony 9 cards left in his deck and 5 cards on
his hand (See Digest
4 how Judai ends up with 9 cards in his deck and 5 cards
on his hand).

episode 72 summarized by Janime |

It's now Judai's third turn. He feels worried by drawing
a card since it means he is losing one more card in his
deck. Once Judai draws a card, X opens one of his reversed
trap cards [Gachi Battle ~ Trap: Both
players, during their own turn's Main Phase, choose 1 Monster
with a level of 4 or less from their deck. (Shuffle your
deck after you have chosen one.) The selected Monster is
Special Summoned in attack mode. The Monster Special Summoned
by this effect is destroyed at the End Phase of the turn].
By its effect, both sides have to select monsters from their
decks and special summon them onto the fields. Because X's
filed has Trap Sleuther, whose special effect can protect
him from the effect of Gachi Battle, only Judai is forced
to summon a monster from his deck.
While Judai is getting more worried by losing more cards
in his deck from this special summon, he hears the voice
of a monster spirit from his deck. It encourages Judai by
saying that the duel hasn't ended yet. Then, that card moves
up to Judai's hand, and there appears a new monster. Judai
looks at the card and realizes that all of his friends are
still with him. He summons it, a new Neos monster [N-Glowmoss
- 3/300/900: When this card is in battle, verify the top
card of your opponent's deck and according to that card,
activate one of the following effects. Your opponent can
draw 1 card from their deck, but when your opponent doesn't
draw that card, place 2 cards from your own deck into the
Cemetery. 1) If it is a Magic card, you can attack your
opponent directly. 2) If it is a Monster card, this card's
battle is ended. 3) If it is a Trap card, this card is switched
to defense mode] onto the field in an attack position.
N-Glowmoss has 3 stars, so Judai loses 3 more cards following
the effect of Monster Register. At this points, Judai has
only 4 cards left in his deck (See
Digest 6 how Judai ends up with 4=9-1-1-3).
Still in Judai's turn, he equips a magic card [Neos
Energy - Equipment Magic: This card can only be equipped
to a monster with Neo-Spacian
in their name. Increase the Equipped monster's attack power
by 800 points. During each of your Standby Phases, the Equipped
monster's attack power decreases by 300 points] with
N-Glowmoss. It can increase the attack points N-Glowmoss
by 800 points, so its total attack points become 1100 (300+800).
Moving to the battle phase, Judai declares that N-Glowmoss'
special effect that can be activated only in this step.
By its effect, X has to choose first whether to draw a card
from his deck for the further effect or whether to let Judai
place 2 cards from his deck into the graveyard. X selects
to draw a card. After that, Judai has to follow the remaining
effects of N-Glowmoss. If X's drawn card is a magic card,
Judai's monster can attack X directly. If it's a monster
card , N-Glowmoss' battle phase is ended. If it's a trap
card, N-Glowmoss is changed into a defense position. The
result appears on X's hand as a magic card, Super Guard,
so Judai can let his monster attack X directly. It now shows
that X has 15 cards left in his deck (See
Digest 6 how X ends up with 15=16-1).

Compulsory
Evacuation Device
Trap Card |
Judai insistss that this is still the duel judged by LP
(not cards in a deck), declaring the direct attack of N-Glowmoss
against X. At this moment, X opens his second reversed trap
card, [Compulsory Evacuation Device
~ Kyouseidatsu Shutsu Souchi - Trap: Return 1 Monster on
the Field into their owner's hand]. Due to its effect,
N-Glowmoss is forced to return to Judai's hand. Judai feels
worried by that he has done so much but still wasn't able
to attack at this point. Here is the end of his turn.

left in his deck. Then, he plays a permanent magic [Super
Guard ~ Permanent Magic: If you pay 500 Life Points during
your Main Phase. Monsters on your Field cannot be destroyed
as a result of battle. Your turn is then skipped].
This card can protect his monster from being destroyed in
battle in exchange of 500 LP. In other words, he uses it
to protect Trap Sleuther so that Trap Register doesn't have
the effect against him. Judai looks at his deck, becoming
very concerned. He has only 4 cards left in his deck. If
he summons a monster in his next turn, all of the cards
in his deck may be gone. Anyway, X is smirking and enjoying
the duelist in despair by his deck destruction. Judai is
getting more nervous and thinking what he should do. Meanwhile,
the spirit of the card, N-Glowmoss, calls him to wake him
up. Judai looks at his remaining 6 cards on hand, which
are E-Hero Edgeman, De-Fusion, E-Hero Sparkman, N-Glowmoss,
Instant Fusion, and Soul Share-Common Soul. He has just
realized that as long as he trusts in his friends/cards,
he can find the way out. Getting the fighting spirit back,
he continues his turn with strong belief.

Final turn of Judai has come. He draws a card, decreasing
his deck to 3 cards. Then, he plays [Soul
Share Common Soul ~ Tamashii No Kyouyuu Common Soul - Permanent
Magic: If there is 1 other Monster on the Field, Special
Summon 1 Monster with Neo Spacian in your hand to the controller
of that other Monster. The attack strength of that other
Monster is increased if the attack strength of the Monster
with Neo Spacian in its name is increased. When this card
is removed from the Field, return the Neo Spacian named
Monster to your hand] from his hand. By its effect,
Judai declares that he can special summon N-Glowmoss onto
the field. Edo doesn't understand what Judai is thinking
of summoning more monster to lose more cards in his deck.
Judai further explains that N-Glowmoss will be special summoned
in a control of another monster on the field. X claims that
Judai doesn't have any other monster on his field. Judai
tells him that the controller of N-Glowmoss that he aims
to is actually Trap Sleuther. As a result, N-Glowmoss is special
summoned onto X's field in an attack position under the
control of Trap Sleuther. In addition to the effect of Soul
Share - Common Soul, the attack points of Trap Sleuther increase
by those of N-Glowmoss. Therefore, its total attack points
become 1100 (800+300).
After that, Judai plays [Miracle
Fusion - Magic: Remove the Monsters determined by a Fusion
Monster from your Field and/or Cemetery from the game, and
Special Summon that Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck
with E-HERO in its name. This Special Summon is treated
as a Fusion Summon] from his hand. Removing E-Hero
Clayman, Featherman, Bubbleman, and Burst Lady in his graveyard
from the game, he can special summon [E-Hero
Elixer - 10/2900/2600: This card can only be Special Summoned
by a Fusion Summon. The Attribute of this card is also treated
as WIND, WATER, FIRE, and EARTH. When this card is Fusion
Summoned successfully, return all cards that are removed
from play to their respective owner's Deck. The Deck is
then shuffled. Increase the ATK of this card for each face-up
monster on the opponent's side of the field with the same
Attribute as this card x300 points] onto the field
in an attack position.
Kenzan doesn't understand what Judai is doing. Edo notes
that E-Hero Elixer has level 10, so all Judai's last remaining
3 cards in his deck are taken by Monster Register. As X
laughes with joy, Judai claims that the game hasn't finished
yet. Edo has just realized the fact that a person is defeated
when he has no card left to draw. However, a person isn't
considered to be defeated in case he can't satisfy the condition
of an effect by sending sufficient cards into the cemetery.
In brief, if Judai doesn't have enough cards to satisfy
Monster Register's effect, he hasn't been defeated yet.
However, Kenzan thinks that Judai still can't do anything
from now on. X thinks so, suggesting Judai surrender.
Judai then declares the special effect of E-Hero Elixer
to return all cards removed from the game to the deck and
shuffle. Thus, E-Hero Clayman, Featherman, Bubbleman, and
Burst Lady are returned to his deck and shuffled. Then,
he normal summons E-Hero Sparkman onto the field in an attack
position. Kenzan and Sho are confused by what Judai has
done. He has just got back his cards in his deck, but he
is losing them all after this summon. Again, Monster Register
takes all 4 cards from his deck (Sparkman has 4 level).
Judai declares the attack of E-Hero Elixer against N-Glowmoss
on X's field. X laughs and asks whether Judai intends to
attack his own friend. He hopes Judai has already realized
that his trust on cards doesn't help him win. Judai argues
that it's completely different. He attacks his own friend
because of that trust.

Recycle Barrier
Trap Card |
Once E-Hero Elixer attacks N-Glowmoss, X opens his reversed
trap card [Recycle Barrier - Trap:
Reduce all Battle Damage done by the opponent from a Monster
to its controller. On your turn, during your Standby Phase,
if this card is in your Cemetery. By placing 1 Trap card
in your hand to the Cemetery, you can return this card to
your hand] that can protect him from all damages
in this turn. Also, he activates the effect of Super Guard.
Paying 500 LP, he can protect N-Glowmoss from beinging destroyed
in battle. Thus, N-Glowmoss is returned onto the field.
However, repeatedly, he doesn't have to lose 500 LP due
to the effect of Recycle Barrier. When he receives 0 damage,
X declares that his possibility to lose is 0 as well. When
N-Glowmoss is regenerated, X intends to activate its special
to verify the top card on Judai's deck. Judai, nevertheless,
claims that he no longer has any card in his deck, so the
special effect of N-Glowmoss can't be activated. Judai says
that X may have already forgotten another effect of N-Glowmoss.
In case the opponent (Judai) doesn't draw a card for X to
verify, X has to discard 2 cards from his deck into his
cemetery. This results in 12 cards (14-2) into his deck
(please look at the number of his cards on digest8).

Instant Fusion
Magic Card |
Next, Judai lets E-Hero Sparkman to attack N-Glowmoss.
By the same whole effects, X doesn't lose any LP, N-Glowmoss
is returned onto the field, and X loses 2 more cards from
his deck. Thus, this results in 10 cards (12-2) remaining
in his deck. X certainly looks unpleased with the fact that
his own deck is being destroyed. Judai then plays De-Fusion
to return E-Hero Clayman, Featherman, Bubbleman, and Burst
Lady from his cemetery onto the field. X looks pretty shocked
by the 4 attacks. That means although he doesn't lose any
LP, but he has to lose the cards in his deck until he has
only 2 left (10-4*2); N-Glowmoss can't be destroyed anyway.
X smirks and claims that he still has cards left in his
deck, but Judai no longer has enough monster to attack.
Judai starts recounting, and has just realized that he really
doesn't have enough. As a result, he plays a new magic card
[Instant Fusion ~ Shunkan Yuugou -
Instant Magic: Select monsters on your Field needed as Fusion
Components for a Fusion Summoning and remove them from the
field to the Graveyard, Special Summon the appropriate Fusion
Monster from your Fusion Deck. At the End Phase of the turn,
return that card back to your Fusion Deck] from his
hand. By its effect, he can send E-Hero Clayman, Featherman,
Bubbleman, and Burst Lady on the field into the cemetery
to special summon E-Hero Elixer back onto the field. E-Hero
Elixer performs the final attack against N-Glowmoss, resulting
in 0 card in X's deck (2-2). Then, Judai declares the ending
of his turn. E-Hero Elixer is also returned to his deck
according to the effect of Instant Fusion.
